Three cops hurt as PCR van comes under attack in Delhi's Shastri Park

The three police personnel who were assaulted were posted as Sub Inspectors, identified as Pappu Lal Meena, Rajkumar and Robin.

NEW DELHI: Three Delhi Police personnel were allegedly thrashed and a PCR van was damaged by a group of slum dwellers in Delhi’s Shastri Park area when the cops had gone there responding to a call of quarrel, an official said on Tuesday. Information was received on Monday at 09:48 pm that some slum dwellers had assaulted PCR staff and damaged a PCR van following which a police team was dispatched to the spot.

“It was found that the PCR van had responded to a quarrel call near the petrol pump in Kabristan. When the PCR van was leaving with some miscreants for the police station, the local residents surrounded the vehicle and damaged it. The PCR staff was also assaulted,” the official said.

The three police personnel who were assaulted were posted as Sub Inspectors, identified as Pappu Lal Meena, Rajkumar and Robin. All three injured police personnel were shifted to a nearby hospital from where they were later discharged.
