12 prizes for GHMC parks at expo

The Horticulture and Urban Forestry divisions of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have bagged 12 prizes in the recently concluded Horticulture Expo 2009 held at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road.

The GHMC was also awarded with Pushpa Vatika Trophy for maximum entries at the garden festival organised by the Department of Horticulture from Jan 1 to 15.

Additional Commissioner (Parks) Vani Mohan said eight parks managed by the Horticulture wing and four of the urban forestry bagged prizes.

Among the Horticulture wing’s parks, the first prize went for The Red Hills Colony Park, Vivekanandnagar Colony Park, Uma Nagar Colony Park, Gun Park near the Assembly; the second prize for the Sainikpuri E-Sector Park, Alhasnath Colony Park, Barkatpura Traffic Island, and the third prize for the Sardar Patel Traffic Island. Urban forestry division’s Imlilban Park, Jalagam Vengal Rao Park, Herbal Garden Park and Palmetum Park were given the second prize.
