Former MP from Kurnool Erasu Ayyapu Reddy passed away in a private hospital in Hyderabad after a prolonged illness.

HYDERABAD: Former member of Parliament from Kurnool Erasu Ayyapu Reddy passed away in a private hospital here tonight after a prolonged illness.

Hailing from Kadigarevula village in Gadirevula Mandal in Kurnool district, Ayyapu Reddy was a well-known lawyer. He was a leading champion for the cause of development of Rayalaseema Region.

He was MLA from Atmakur for several terms.

His son Erasu Pratapa Reddy is the Congress MLA from Srisailam in Kurnool district. He shifted to the newly-created Srisailam constituency after delimitation.

Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy condoled the passing away of Ayyapu Reddy and said that his services for the development of Rayalaseema region would not be forgotten. Kurnool MP Kotla Suryapratap Reddy, Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy, Rayadurg MLA K Ramachandra Reddy, former MLA from Anantapur Ramakrishna, also expressed their condolences at the death of Ayyapu Reddy.
