Violin Vasudevan, cultural advisor and faculty (musicology and music appreciation), IIIT-Hyderabad has developed 100 short video tutorials to learn Carnatic violin fundamentals with every episode dealing with a different concept of the subject. The project is an initiative of Sanskriti, an NGO, which has been executed by Violin Vasu and his students from IIIT-H, Nikhil (who is presently pursuing MS in LTRC) and Sri Girish Sarma (an employee of Genpact and also an active volunteer of the NGO Sanskriti). This Youtube channel will be helpful to beginners or people who have discontinued learning. It will also benefit people who are learning music from other gurus since they can practice with the help of the videos available as well. The content of the channel is general in nature and it discusses universality of music and relates it to Carnatic music in particular. These videos have have been evaluated by many professionals and have received positive feedback. The videos have recorded 4,000 views in two weeks.

To log onto the channel, one has to either type, “Carnatic Violin lessons by Violin Vasu” or “thesanskritimusic” to view all the videos. Vasudevan, more popularly known as Violin Vasu is a voco-violinist, lyricist and composer (Classical and Fusion musician). He has been working on various projects on Indian culture and music for over two decades now and has also worked in movies and serials. He also has a classical fusion band- Devandrone through which they give classical and fusion performances in India and abroad. He is a proud recipient of many national and international awards and honors that include Rashtrapati Award, International Award for Young People - Buckingham Palace London, Samaikya Bharat Gaurav Puraskar (Eminent personalities category), Outstanding Artistes Research Fellowship from Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
