The tech insider

The co-host of Gadget Guru on NDTV 24X7, Rajiv Makhni, is back with the second season of Croma Tech Grandmaster, a quiz show on NDTV Good Times, which tests your knowledge on gadgets and online trends.  Produced by Big Synergy Lab, the show will see two teams from schools, colleges and companies battling it out.  Prizes include an iPad, a DSLR camera worth Rs 1 lakh and more.

Rajiv Makhni opens up about his show and why his daughter is his favourite ‘gadget’.

The content is the USP this season.  We have tried to make it accessible across all age groups.  For instance, Nokia derives its name from Nokianvirta, a river (in Finland) which the founder Fredrik Idestam was wading through.  The content brings school, college and corporates on the same platform.

Tech Grandmaster for bloggers is in the pipeline.  It will be live and happen before August 10.  There will be an online test, which will serve as an elimination, after which 10-12 bloggers will be chosen for the quiz.

Google Nexus 7 tablet fills up the gap the tablet market was facing.  It is a perfect tablet which has been made without any compromise and has been priced at $199 across the world.  It’s a game changer.  Samsung Galazy Nexus SIII is definitely another such gadget (before Apple comes up with its iPhone 5).

In the online space, the machine to machine technology is a huge trend which is catching on.  For instance, you have the Fitbit Aria Wi-fi smart scale which takes your weight, calculates BMI (Body Mass Index) and uploads it to a website.

Fatherhood gives me a great high.  It’s sad, but I find my daughter the most wondrous piece of technology (laughs).  It’s fascinating to see her grow up.

Croma Tech Grandmaster airs on NDTV Good Times on weekends at 10.30 pm.
