Civil Services Examination-2012 state topper from Hyderabad K Sashank’s father asked parents to allow their children to opt for the subjects they are interested in. Only when they choose professions of their interest can they put 100 per cent effort.
Speaking to media after meeting chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at the Secretariat here Saturday, the retired IDPL employee said the parents must expose children to various social issues, which will help them select a right profession at the earliest. The proud father said he always allowed his son to select the profession of his choice and never forced him to pursue any course nor advised him to prepare for a particular job.
Samyuktha, the civil topper’s mother, said she is proud of presenting her son as a civil servant, who will play a key role in nation building. The retired government teacher said it would be good if her son gets his posting in Andhra Pradesh, where he has a greater understanding of the society, which will enables him to serve the society better.
Stating that though he expected scoring a good rank this time, Sashank said he never dreamt he would secure the 16th rank. “I am happy for being a topper from state. Since I got an opportunity to serve the society, I will discharge my duties with utmost responsibility,” he said.
LB Nagar MLA D Sudhir Reddy, who accompanied the civil services topper and his parents to chief minister’s office, said his constituency was proud as one of their residents had secured the 16th rank at national level. The MLA said the chief minister congratulated him for securing the coveted selection and blessed him.
