The Chaderghat police cracked the case of the kidnap of a 2-year-old boy within 24 hours and united the boy with his parents on Monday.
Sub-inspector V Kishore said T Yadaiah, an autorickshaw driver residing at Kattelaguda in Osmanpura police limits complained on Sunday that his son had been kidnapped by a woman, B Lakshmi, and her husband who live in the neighbourhood.
Yadaiah said when he and his wife were away from home on Sunday evening, his elderly mother was looking after his 2-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter. Then Lakshmi, who is known to the family, took away both the children. This happened at 4 pm.
When the children did not return for two hours, he anxious mother informed Yadaiah around 6 pm of the the kids’ disappearance. Yadaiah searched for the children in the surroundings, found his daughter at MGBS bus station but could not trace his son or Lakshmi. Told by his daughter that Lakshmi had taken away them, Yadaiah approached the police.
Coming to know that Lakshmi hails from Pitlam in Nizamabad district, Chaderghat police, with the help of Nizamabad policep traced the woman and her captive at Pitlam. When questioned, Lakshmi revealed that she had delivered a boy six months ago but he died within minutes. As her kin did not know about the death of the infant, she said she abducted the boy to show Yadaiah’s son as her own. Police produced Lakshmi in a court which remanded her in judicial custody.
