The Deccan Pavillion at ITC Kakatiya is hosting the Mango Mania food fest. Given that the season will perhaps last another two to three weeks, this is quite the way to bid adieu to this year’s season.
Crafted by their sous chef, Anshuman, the mango menu comprises of some delicately balanced flavours like bree cheese with mango on a pizza and mango cremecotta paired with prawn and diced chilli.
The menu also includes traditional preparations like the mango chutney, mamidikai pappu, avakai, et al, but what you should really look forward to having is the rice with mango Thai curry. Using just about ripened mangoes, the slightly raw fruit adds a very interesting flavour to the traditional Thai curry, something we guarantee you’ll enjoy.
Other interesting additions are the mango lassi (paired with powdered cinnamon, very yummy indeed) and the mango waffles that comes sprinkled with maple syrup and a dab of whipped cream (if it’s missing, go ahead and ask for a serving). Mint leaves and Rosemary are quite generously used to balance out the flavours, so it might become a repetitive flavour. However, given the mango overdose you are likely to have, the mint will most likely help in keeping your body heat in check.
While the mango paired ‘hot’ foods will entice you, the desserts will not particularly keep you engaged. The chef swears by their mango mousse cake and the assembled mango doughnut sundae will look interesting, but may not live upto the expectations. But then again, you can round of your meal with another shot of the mango lassi (don’t forget, it’s a buffet).
Mango Mania will go on till June 2 and is priced at Rs 1299, exclusive of taxes.
