The Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad, in collaboration with the World Bank and Australian AID, organised a week-long South-South Learning Event at its Banjara Hills campus in the city from May 20 to 24.
The week began with a two-day International Conference on Resettlement, Rehabilitation and Benefit Sharing, followed by a two-day field visit to projects involving resettlement/livelihood restoration and concluding with a workshop that aimed at promoting south-south collaborations in the areas of management of involuntary resettlement and benefit-sharing in infrastructure development.
The two-day international conference was attended by 110 delegates from 20 countries (Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Kenya, India, LAO PDR, Nepal, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Uganda, United Kingdom).
The delegates visited the Addakula Mandal Mahila Samakhya (MMS), the federation of all self-help groups (SHGs) in Addakula mandal in Mahbubnagar district and the Kistapuram R&R Centre and the dam site of the KL Rao Sagar (Pulichintala) project in Guntur district on May 24 to understand the ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures undertaken by the state government.
