Rs 50,000 for heat victims' kin

Express News Service

The state government has decided to request the New India Assurance Company to accept the reports of three-member committees in lieu of FIR and postmortem report for the payment of Rs 50,000 to the kin of sunstroke victims, under Apatbandhu scheme.

According to commissioner for disaster management T Radha, the request is being made as it has been found that the kin of victims are finding it difficult to take the bodies to hospitals for postmortem. The commissioner has asked collectors to constitute mandal-level three-member committees to visit the villages where sunstroke deaths took place, conduct an inquiry and then send their report to the district collectors.
