Numaish Gets Wi-Fi, Web Streaming...

Folk artists from the region will be encouraged to present their talent and so will startups

HYDERABAD: There are some surprises in store for visitors to the 76th All IndiaIndustrial Exhibition beginning in the city at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds on January 1. They can now look forward to availing free wi-fi service.

However, free wi-fi will be available for only 45 minutes. For the first time one can also catch up with the 46-day ‘Numaish’ on the internet from the comfort of one’s home. The Exhibition Society plans to undertake web streaming of the programme from 6 pm to 10 pmevery evening.

This apart, the main events of the exhibition  are proposed to be uploaded on YouTube in short clips of ten-minuteduration, according to Satyender Vanam, Honorary Secretary, Exhibition Society. Hectic preparations are on for the mega show which registers heaviest footfall count for any consumer fair in the world. Last year, Numaish recorded 25 lakh visitors and this time the number is expected to bemore. This exhibition will be different from the previous editions inthat it will have more illumination. “It will be a dazzling fair with laser lights all over”, says Vanam.Empowerment, entrepreneurship, education and recreation will be thehighlights of the Numaish. Prime importance is being given tomanufacturers, particularly from Telangana.

Also for the first time therewill be a pavilion of indianstartups.com, an initiative of US- basedIndians to help fellow countrymen struggling to set up enterprises,said Aditya Margam, honorary joint secretary, Exhibition Society. As usual 2,500 pavilions will come up in the sprawling 23-acreexhibition ground. Some traders from Indonesia, Egypt and Malaysiahave evinced interest in putting up their stalls.

“But nothing is finalised yet as they have to get clearance for transport ofmaterial”, Vanam said. The Exhibition Society has taken special interest in promotinggreenery and creating more lung space. There is no change in the entryticket.

It remains just Rs 20 on all days. The ladies only day will be held in the first week of January and the children’s day towardsthe end. The exhibition authorities are not taking any chances with security.Apart from police personnel, there will be 150 volunteers, 100 watchand ward staff, two dog squads and 40 CCTV cameras besides door frameand hand held metal detectors to keep an eye on trouble mongers. A She Team will also be deployed to look out for eve teasers.
