HYDERABAD: Armed men made away with gold ornaments worth Rs 8 crore from an office of Muthoot Finance at Beeramguda on the outskirts of the Hyderabad this morning.

According to the police, five armed men entered the Muthoot Finance office at about 9.30 am when it was being cleaned by an attender. The intruders threatened the cleaner with knives and broke into the lockers and carried away the gold kept in them. 

Superintendent of police S Chandrasekhar Reddy of Sangareddy district, within whose jurisdiction the locality falls, said the stolen gold amounted to 8 kg.

Fingerprint and dog squads were summoned to the office to pick up clues. Before making their getaway, the robbers removed the CCTV footage from the hard disk. So the police are scanning video footage from CCTV cameras located in other buildings in the vicinity.

Interestingly, a similar heist took place in the same office of Muthoot Finance a few months ago.
