A female elephant named Jamuna that had been suffering from illness since the last three months died at the Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

HYDERABAD: A female elephant named Jamuna that had been suffering from illness since the last three months died at the Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Jamuna was 44 years old and was suffering with severe pain in her hind legs since March 14 and at times was unable to sleep in the night due to the pain.

She was treated for the same by Dr M Navin Kumar, Zoo Consultant and by the zoo veterinarians.   However, on Wednesday afternoon Jamuna suddenly fell down at the fodder plot where she was housed and by evening she fell flat on one side and died.
