Sanitation workers lift over 87 tonnes of scrap in 11 days in Hyderabad

On the occasion of the centralised immersion procession, the sanitation workers worked to remove the garbage quickly and without causing any inconvenience to the people.

HYDERABAD: During the 11 days of Ganesh festivities, between August 31 and September 10, a total of 80,202 metric tonnes of waste was collected and moved to the dump yard at Jawaharnagar on the city outskirts. In connection with the immersion, additional vehicles were arranged and a total of 7,124 trips were made to the dumping yard.

During the festivities, as many as 74 artificial ponds were set up and 10,000 sanitation workers pressed into service who worked round the clock to speed up garbage collection.The daily garbage lifted, including door-to-door collection, was 7,273 tonnes on August 31, September 1 (6,647), September 2 (7,191), September 3 (6,770 ), September 4 (6,908), September 5 (7,292), September 6 (7,877), September 7 (8,003), September 8 (7,926), September 9 (7,970) and September 10 (7,345), totaling 80,202 metric tonnes.

On the occasion of the centralised immersion procession, the sanitation workers worked to remove the garbage quickly and without causing any inconvenience to the people. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority lifted 6,900 metric tonnes of idol remnants from the Hussainsagar since the immersion began by deploying 500 workers and machinery like an aquatic weed harvester-cum-trash collector and an amphibious long boom excavator. It is shifted to the garbage transfer station at Lower Tank Road and from there to the Jawaharnagar dumping yard.
