The house constructed by the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) for senior actor Shanthakumari was handed over to her on Saturday. Minster for Cinema K B Ganesh Kumar handed over the key to the actor in the presence of AMMA members. The association’s fund to help struggling artists was utilised to construct the house at Vyttila.
“She was staying at a hostel and when her problem was raised in the association meeting, the members unanimously suggested the construction of a house to help the senior artist. Some artists also made personal financial contributions for the purpose,” said AMMA secretary Idavela Babu.
The house was constructed on three cents of land owned by the actor, at an expense of Rs 15 lakh.
Actors Dileep, Jayasurya, Vinu Mohan, Beena Antony, Manoj and Seema G Nair were also present on the occasion.
