The Kochi city shadow police on Sunday arrested two persons on charges of unauthorised money lending.Salamon of Dandigar and Chellamuthu of Thirupur were arrested for lending money at exorbitant rates of interest to the local people at Tripunithura area. The police seized documents related to transactions and Rs 28,750 from them. The police said that small shop owners are the main victims. The accused have been indulging in the illegal business for the past many years.The police arrested the duo after a tip-off. Special Branch Assistant Commissioner said that the police will take stringent action against the illegal business. In another case, the shadow wing arrested Ratheesh, 35, of Veliyannur on charges of stealing a mobile phone worth Rs 18,000.The shadow police also seized a motor pump and related equipment. ENSz
