EoI to be invited for Laser Show project

The GCDA proposes to set up a gallery with a musical fountain and laser projector at Rajendra Maidan

With the state government giving its nod for the Laser Show project mooted by the Greater Cochin development Authority (GCDA) at Rajendra Maidan, the Authority has decided to invite Expression of Interest. As per the proposal submitted by the GCDA, a gallery to  accommodate nearly 600 people, a musical fountain and laser projector system will be set up at the Maidan.

The estimated cost of the project is `5.5 crore. The GCDA will bear 30 per cent of the cost. The remaining amount will be raised as bank loan. According to GCDA officials,  the project would help utilise the vacant area at the Maidan more effectively and attract more tourists.

According to a GCDA official, the the cost for setting up the Laser Projector System alone would come up to `3 crore. A national-level tender will be floated for operating the facility on a turn-key basis for a period of five years. “Initially we are planning two shows of 50 minutes each daily. More details, including the ticket charges, for the show will be finalised later,” he said.
