First science school to be opened soon

The first science school of the country will be launched at the Vikram Sarabhai Science Park in Kakkanad soon, former ISRO Chairman and science park chairman G Madhavan Nair has said.

Former president of French Space Agency Yannick D’Ecastha will formally announce its opening at a function on Saturday.

However, the school will start functioning only from the next academic year.

“Admissions will be take place from the next academic year. A high-level committee will chart out the syllabus and admission procedure,” Madhavan said.

This year, the key event would be a regular interactive session of 150 selected students with top-notch scientists of the country, he said.

Anil Kakodkar, former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, and Kartikeya V Sarabhai, founder director of the Centre for Environment Education, will be the guests of honour on Saturday.
