National energy Congress concludes

“Encon 2013”, the 2nd national energy congress, concluded at Kakkanad on Tuesday. The national-level technical seminar and exhibition of energy efficient/ renewable  energy products was organised by the Energy Conservation Society (ECS) in association with Ernakulam district panchayat.

The Congress had its focus on the theme “Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development”.

Workshops on solar PV installation, biogas plant installation and industrial energy auditing were organised as part of the congress. The exhibition showcased energy efficient equipment, renewable energy equipment (solar,biogas,wind etc), LED lighting, solar PV systems, automobiles, solar home inverters, power quality analysers and industrial automation systems.

The highlight of the exhibition was the solar electric rickshaw developed by Energia Solar Power Solutions, Thrikkakara. The NSS volunteers from Toc H Engineering College, Arakkunnam conducted a free medical camp. A stall by the Kerala State Electricity Board circulated pamphlets with tips to conserve energy.

The programme involved presentations from different fields like energy efficiency, solar energy, utilisation and use of energy systems and devices. Technical paper presentation competitions were held in both student and expert levels.
