Opposition up in arms against corrupt chairs

While the I group sharpens its weapons against the Mayor and his team, the Opposition of the Kochi Corporation will again raise their demand for the resignation of the two Standing Committee chairpersons who were allegedly involved in corruption charges. According to the Opposition, Town Planning Standing Committee chairman and Works Standing Committee chairperson should be ready to resign before the reshuffling. “We are not bothered about group fight but on our earlier stand on the demand for the resignation of chairpersons against whom we have raised corruption charges,” said Opposition councilor and former Works Standing Committee chairman M Anilkumar.

Opposition Councilor N A Shafeek said the UDF were also criticising the Mayor and his team for its ineffectiveness. “The I-group members,  have come out in the open against the Mayor and the functioning of the Standing Committees several times. The latest in the list of allegations is the Welfare Standing Committee chairperson and its shows they are all not fit for the posts ,” he said.
