KOCHI: Film stars and business ventures are not something new. For them, turning to entrepreneurship is their ‘Plan B’. The latest entrant into the ranks of celebrities- cum-entrepreneurs is Kavya Madhavan, who entered Mollywood through Kamal’s ‘Pookaalam Varavayi’.
“My new venture ‘Laksyah’, an online store which sells dress materials for women, will become operational on Saturday at 2 pm. Superstar Mammootty will launch the brand and Innocent, MP, will inaugurate the website. My decision to enter the business sector came after a lot of deliberations. My family has extended its wholehearted support. Though, I had thought about starting eateries or a dance school, I felt as if I was missing out on something. But the thought of starting a textile business somehow took root in my mind and now it has come to fruition,” said Kavya Madhavan, in a press meet here on Friday.
When asked if she will be content enough with this new avatar, Kavya said that, she is not going to halt her stint in cinema. “It was my dream to start my own business. This doesn’t mean that I will soon call it a day with cinema. My point is that cinema can’t be depended upon for a long time. Thus, another source of income will come handy,” said Kavya. Kavya also disclosed that in the coming month a film, in which she stars, will be released and she will sign up for another project.
Explaining about ‘Laksyah’, Midhun Madhavan, Kavya’s brother said that the online platform offers products which will be unique in design and added that the products will be accessible to all.
“The dress materials are being offered under various heads, namely bridal, celebrity and regular. The selection will be easy as great care has been taken to make our site an user friendly one. We are not offering products of other brands. These are our own. The customers can also submit their designs and materials will be delivered in a time bound manner,” said Midhun Madhavan.
