Express News Service

KOCHI: Goethe Zentrum is screening another movie for the cine buffs at the centre. The movie to be screened on Saturday, 6.35 pm at the amphitheatre, will be the German film 'Eltern' (parents).

The 2013 film directed by Robert Thalheim narrates the story of a family's difficulties of raising two children. Konrad and Christine is a married couple who is by all means a modern family with reversed roles. But taking care of their two kids Emma and Kate has always been a difficult task. While Konrad, a theatre director, is now a stay-at-home husband taking care of the household, Christine, the working mom, is an anaesthetist at a clinic. The situations takes a dramatic change when Konrad gets a chance at coming back to theatre direction, offered a chance at directing the readaptation of Hebbel's play 'Nibelungen'. Pretty soon, organising their day-to-day family life becomes increasingly difficult.

The film is one among few that offers a different kind of family drama.

Alex Brendemuhl and Paraschiva Dragus star in leading roles in this 96-minute-long film. The film had been nominated for the Best German actress (Christiane Paul), best German actor(Charly Hubner) and for the best German film (Robert Thalheim) at the 2014 Jupiter Awards. It has also been screened at various film festivals as well.
