KOCHI: A container ship rammed into a fishing boat in deep sea, causing the boat to capsize and injuring all the seven fishermen onboard the boat. The condition of three among the injured is reportedly serious, and they are undergoing  treatment at the Fort Kochi Taluk Hospital.

The fishermen were rescued by occupants of another fishing boat anchored a few hundred metres away who rushed to the spot and brought the fishermen onboard before the boat capsized, averting a tragedy. After hitting the boat, the container ship dragged it for a while.

“The ship rammed into the boat at high speed, despite the boat being well lit, and left without even slowing down. The fishermen fell on the deck and were severely injured. However, they managed to stay on board,” said officers at the coastal police station.
