KOCHI:  Putting an end to uncertainty, the Kochi Corporation on Tuesday unanimously decided to entrust the operation of new passenger ferry service between Fort Kochi and Vypeen to the Kerala State Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC). Though the Corporation had earlier decided to entrust the operation to KSINC, the opposition came down heavily on the move citing its mysterious nature.
As per the new decision, the KSINC will operate the service until the civic body forms a special purpose vehicle for the same.

Meanwhile, the Corporation also decided to conduct a review meeting once every two weeks on the operation of the ferry service by KSINC. A special committee, including Town Planning Committee chairperson Shiny Mathew, Works Committee chairman P M Harris, Opposition Leader K J Antony, BJP councillor Syamala Prabhu and Corporation secretary A S Anuja, will be constituted towards that end.
