THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI state executive held here on Thursday  decided to study in detail all aspects of major infrastructure projects like Sobha Hi-tech city before giving clearance to them.

Though the CPI secretariat has cleared the four major infrastructure projects, which are now under the consideration of the high level committee headed by Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, the state executive took a different stand. The common feeling in the executive was that the Secretariat decision was taken in a hasty manner. The executive decided to ask the secretariat to reconsider the proposal and study all aspects. The recommendations of the secretariat will be placed before the next meeting of the state executive committee.

Meanwhile, at the CPI state council which followed on Thursday, several members expressed displeasure over the worsening law and order situation in the state.

A section of council opined that CPI has to take a strict position against the activities of the goonda-mafia gangs in the state. The council asked the CPI leadership to express its displeasure at the next LDF meeting scheduled to be held on September 21.
