THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The pangs of an underlying guilt constantly trickle down his body as sweat droplets. Like the embers of a smouldering fire, the drops burn his soul almost incontinently.
His face, always a spatter of sweat, seems lost in musings. He feels like a stinking sack of flesh, that makes his wife, daughter, pals and colleagues retch at him. The perturbing tale of an ever-sweating Murugan was screened at Kalabhavan here on Monday.
Titled ‘Choodu’, the 30-minute long short film conveys the heat of a scorching human soul and his bruised inner being. The depth of sin, guilt and remorse are portrayed in the film scripted and directed by Sajeev Pazhoor. ‘’Heat does not imply the literal meaning alone. The implication is deeper and profound. It is a question of how a man is pushed to incessant ordeal by his own sense of guilt,’’ said Sajeev Pazhoor, the director of the film.
The film is set in a village on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu borders and is about an attendant Murugan, who is unwanted at his own home and his office because of the detestable sweat that spreads his body.
The cinematography is done by Praveen Panicker. Sariga Samad and Shobha Mohan come in the lead roles as Murugan and his wife Rajam respectively.
