THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister V S Sivakumar will inaugurate the ‘P Bhaskaran Award Night 2012’ at the Panchayat Association Hall on February 25 at 5 p.m.

  The programme organised by P Bhaskaran Foundation is being held to mark the fifth death anniversary of the poet and is titled ‘Nazhiyoor palu’ after one his most popular songs penned for the big screen.

  Actor Madhu will be presented the award for his outstanding contribution to the film industry. Sheela and Mukesh will be given awards in recognition of their talent.

Madhav Ramdas, the director of the Malayalam film ‘Melvilasam’, will be given the award for best film, Shalini Usha Nair for debutante director (Akam), Parthipan for best actor (Melvilasam), Veena George for best news reader (India Vision), Sujith Nair for best print media reporter (Malayala Manorama). Other awards in categories such as playback singing, lyrics, television presentation, criticism etc will also be presented.

  MLAs K Muraleedharan and V Sivakutty, Panning Board member C P John among others will attend. A music night, ‘Prema chakori’ will be held after the award ceremony.
