THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Institute of Educational Technology (SIET) in association with the ST Development Department is conducting an online aptitude test for tribal students in the state, which began on Thursday. 2,478 students from 18 model residential schools in the state are taking part in the test.

 It is for the first time in the country that an Education Department is conducting a test of this kind for tribal students, an official statement here said.  The test is being organised in such a manner as to recommend options for higher studies to the students by introducing the new trends and novel study courses in the education sector to them.

 Students have to use a password and register number in the separate link  created on the site www.sietkerala.gov.in to take part in the test.

 Questions are set in three categories - aptitude, interest and personality. Seven sub-tests on mechanical reasoning, space relations, verbal reasoning, numerical ability, language usage, vocabulary test and speed and accuracy too will be conducted.

 The test is being conducted till March 31.
