Government urged to drop seaplane project

The Kerala Fisheries Coordination Committee has asked the government to drop the proposed seaplane project alleging that it would create hardship to the fishermen in the suburbs.

The committee also decided to hand over a memorandum to the Chief Minister. The decision was taken at a meeting held here on Wednesday.

It also urged the government to review the project, which they said, would adversely affect the fishermen community.

The committee also put forward the worries of the community regarding the project.

It also said that the project should be implemented only after necessary discussions were held with them.

Committee chairman V Dinakaran presided over the meeting.

Committee general convener V V Sasidharan, Kootayi Basheer (CITU), P Raju, T J Anjalose (AITUC), P P John, T Peter, Umar Ottumal (STU), Francis John, Pulluvila Lawrence, M S James and others spoke.
