H1N1 fever: DHS cautions public

Express News Service

The Health Services director has issued an alert for H1N1 fevers.

In a press release issued here on Friday, the director said that any fever accompanied with symptoms that seemed out of the ordinary should be reported to doctors.  The high risk group, including pregnant women, old people, asthma patients and persons with other illnesses, should especially be careful and take a doctor’s advice as soon as any of the H1N1 symptoms of fever, cold, cough or throat pain are noticed, he said.

Taking nutritious food, intake of hot drinks and enough rest will help in the cure of the disease.

To prevent the spread of the disease, hygienic practices such as covering the mouth and nose and washing the hand frequently with soap should be practised.

All government hospitals are equipped with facilities for the treatment of H1N1 and self-medication should be avoided, said the DHS.
