The Museum police on Tuesday arrested two persons on charges of cheating a person by giving him a fake job promise.

Baji, 41, of Chithra Nagar, Manacaud, Satheesh Kumar, 42, residing near LP School, Thiruvallom, have been identified as those arrested. The police said that the duo had allegedly  cheated one Aneesh Kumar of Baiju Bhavanam, Kazhakkoottam.

Aneesh Kumar and his father came to Forest Headquarters at Vazhuthacaud on Tuesday morning in search of the accused, who had told the former that they were officials of the Forest Department. It was a staff of the Forest Headquarters who noticed the father and son roaming on the office premises and asked their purpose.

“Only then did they realise that there were no officers named Baji and Satheesh Kumar and that they had been cheated. They then informed the police. Aneesh and his father had come to the Forest Office with Rs one lakh to give as advance of the bribe,” said Sub-Inspector at Museum police station R Sivakumar.

The accused had demanded Rs 2.5 lakh from Aneesh Kumar for arranging the ‘job.’ They were later arrested from near the Forest Headquarters itself.

The duo were presented before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
