HC seeks report from Vilappil Action Council

Express News Service

The Kerala High Court on Monday directed the Vilappil Action Council to file a latest report containing steps taken by the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation to solve the issue of waste disposal at Vilappilsala. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice K Vinod Chandran issued the directive while considering a petition filed by the Corporation seeking permission to operate the waste treatment plant at Vilappilsala.

Counsel for the action council submitted before the court that issues related to waste-dumping at Vilappilsala had been

solved to a great extent with the Corporation finding alternative methods to dispose of waste. However, counsel for the Corporation submitted that the alternative measures adopted by the civic body were not effective fully. Following this, the court directed the action council to inform it of the details of the alternative measures adopted by the Corporation, as the council leaders had a better knowledge about the steps taken.
