P J Kurien to attend global meet in Malaysia

Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha and the Chairman of the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development, P J Kurien, will leave for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Tuesday to attend the third Global Women Deliver Conference there.

Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha and the Chairman of the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development, P J Kurien, will leave for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Tuesday to attend the third Global Women Deliver Conference there.

Kurien will be the lead speaker at the inaugural function, which will be attended by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Seri Najib Razak and several other leaders and Parliamentarians from across the globe. Others to address the inaugural function are chairperson and president of the European Parliamentary Forum, Baroness Jenny Tonge; executive director, UNFPA, Babatunde Osotimehin and the Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development of Malaysia, Hajah Rohani Abdul Karim.

The European Parliamentary Forum on Population and Development (EPF) in cooperation with its sister Parliamentary networks in Africa, Asia and America will organise a Parliamentarians’ forum during the Women Deliver Conference.

Kurien would also meet the President of Dewan Negara (Upper House), of the Malaysian Parliament on May 28.
