Rudy, The Captain

Express News Service

The New Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram Indigo flight which landed here on Monday had a politician as its captain - BJP national general secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy. He captained the flight on his way to attend a party agitation programme in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday morning.  Rudy, who holds a commercial pilot licence, is one of the main pilots of the private airliner Indigo.  He told reporters in an informal chat on the sidelines of the news conference that he had to return early as the BJP had called off the nationwide ‘Jail bharo’ agitation in view of the Naxal attack at Baster in Chhattisgarh  the other day.

His earlier plan was to captain the same flight on its return journey to New Delhi.  As the agitation was called off, he went to Mumbai boarding the Jet Airways flight as a passenger and took the Indigo flight back to New Delhi from there.
