Rs 67.02 crore turnover for Oushadhi

Oushadhi, a Kerala government undertaking, has achieved a turnover of Rs 67.02 crore during the 2012-13 fiscal recording 40 percent increase in its turnover compared the previous year. Oushadhi chairman Johny Nellore told a news conference here on Tuesday that the company was aiming a turnover of Rs 100 crore in the next fiscal.

He said they would hand over a cheque worth Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister as dividend on Wednesday.

The company’s production capacity would increase three-fold with the commissioning of its new plant, Centre for Excellence for Ayurvedic Pharmaceuticals at Kuttanelloor, in August, he said.

Besides supplying medicines to the  hospitals in Kerala, Oushadhi is supplying Ayurvedic medicines to government hospitals and dispensaries of other states like Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Pondichery, Rajasthan, Odisha, New Delhi, Lakshadweep  at concessional prices.

He said  that Oushadhi was planning to launch an Ayurvedic health drink in September. The health drink is being developed with the  technical support of Central Food Technological Institute, Mysore. Ayurvedic capsules for liver diseases would also be launched soon as a joint research is being carried out by the Research and Development wing of Oushadhi and the Tropical Botanical Garden and Research Institute (TBGRI).

He said in view of the monsoon and spread  of epidemics Oushadhi in association with Indian system of medicine will distribute epidemic prevention kits.  Each kit would contain Shadangam kashaya choornam, Guluchi choornam, Avipathi choornam, Thaleesapathradi choornam, Viluadi and Sudarshanam tablets.
