3 value-added coconut products launched

Three value-added products made from raw coconut namely Kera Desiccated Coconut, Kera Coconut Milk Powder and Kera Coconut Milk Cream were launched in the market on Thursday.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy launched the products by giving the first products to Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution K V Thomas.

Launching the products, Chandy said that the majority of the value-added products of coconut are manufactured from other states.

He urged to ensure that Kerala branded products to be made available in the market. In Kerala, the scope of development rested on agriculture and tourism sectors. Agriculture Minister K P Mohanan presided over the function. Kerafed chairman Manayath Chandran, Agriculture Department secretary K R Jyothilal, Kerafed managing director Ashok Kumar Thekkan, K Prathapan, Kerafed former chairman M Sukumara Pillai and NCDC director Bijoy George participated.

Kera Desiccated Coconut is made by treatment of coconut and Coconut Milk Power and Milk Cream after separating the milk from coconut without adulteration.

The three products will help cooking easy and gives more taste to food.

The products ensure natural taste and smell. Kerafed will be marketing these products in the market at a lower price than other prominent brands.
