THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Alliance Française Trivandrum and Bharath Bhavan will jointly host Pacotille, a mime- puppet show at the at Kanakakkunnu Palace hall on February 6 at 6.30pm.
A play with hand-held human size puppets made from old newspaper, the characters of Pacotille evolve while meeting the actress on stage. The vagabond, who appears on the stage, finds himself thrown into the middle of characters made out of old newspaper. The five characters bond with the little man - out of friendship, interest, amusement or in other ways. Their exchanges give the show a rhythm that brings to mind the world of cartoons. The play uses simple materials like old newspaper and discarded clothes to create a space that allows the audience to make their own interpretations.
Pacotille is an original play by Aude Maréchal, a director, actress and puppeteer. She is trained at the Papillon Noir Theatre and the Ecole de Théâtre in Paris. She works with leading theatre persons like Dominique Pitoiset, Colette Louvois, Michel Bajeux, Danielle Netter and Martin Delavenne.
