Old boys reunion

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Guruvandanam, friendly matches in Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball and Football between Old Veterans and School teams were held as part of the 47th Old Boys Reunion of Sainik School, Kazhakootam here. Health secretary Rajeev Sadanandan, who is an alumnus of the school was the chief guest.

The events of the day started with paying of homage to the departed alumni at the Hut of Remembrance followed by Wreath Laying Ceremony by the chief guest at the ‘Stupa of Remembrance’. He later paid floral tributes to the four brave sons of the school Col N J Nair AC, KC, Capt R Harshan, AC, Maj Satish Chandran, SM and S/Lt R M Naresh who laid down their lives for the nation.

The highlight of this year’s OBA Reunion was the dedication of pilot organic farming project at the school campus. It is an initiative undertaken by the 1991 batch of old boys to provide farm fresh vegetables to the students through organic farming. Principal Col A Rajiv, administrative officer Lt Col B Girish Kumar and others were present.
