Road rage: Fire personnel arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Medical College Police arrested a Fire and Rescue Service personnel on charges of creating nuisance after entering into an argument with a KSRTC bus driver at Ulloor Junction on Monday morning. The police identified the accused as Vijayakumar, 45, a native of Sreekariyam.

According to the police, the incident took place around  7.45 am when a KSRTC fast passenger bus travelling from Chadayamangalam came to a halt for crossing the junction.

Soon, the accused, who was in a car travelling in the same direction came out of the vehicle and verbally abused the bus driver after the bus brushed with the car. Vijayakumar was returning home with his wife after attending a private function.

Following this, a tussle took place between the driver and the accused.The accused also took a knife from the car to threaten the driver and eventually manhandled him. Later, the locals intervened and informed the police. The accused was overpowered by the locals and the latter handed him over to the police.

The bus driver, identified as V M Shiju, suffered injuries and is under treatment at Govt Medical College Hospital. His condition is said to be stable.
