THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘Kaliyachan’ award instituted in the name of poet P Kunhiraman Nair will be given to literateur C Radhakrishnan. Minister for Culture A K Balan will give away the award by Mahakavi P Foundation and Research Centre on June 17 at Bharat Bhavan.

The award consists of cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a plaque designed by Narayana Bhattathiri. The other awardees are UK Kumaran (novel), Sithara S (story), Divakaran Vishnumangalam, Ambalappuzha Sivakumar, V Raveendran nair (biography-scientific writing), Munjinadu Padmakumar (translation).  Poet Sreekumaran Thampi will deliver the keynote speech.

A jury comprising George Onakkur as chairman and Sudhakaran Ramandali, M Chandraprakash, KA Muralidharan as members selected the awardees. During the function poet Puthusseri Ramachandran, Kalamandalam Gopi, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Sreekumaran Thampi, Kanayi Kunhiraman, Neyyattinkara Komalam and  George Onakkur will be honoured.
