THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The third day of the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK) saw a huge participation of movie buffs. Participating in a conversation session, filmmaker, Anand Patwardhan said he was ready to screen his film everywhere, even if the invitation came from his fascist opponents. He also said even if those who invite him are his opponents, they should be able to guarantee he would not be harmed.

He also that he would not deny any chance of screening, wherever be the location - slums or cities. “The only aim is that the films should reach a maximum number of people, and they should evoke a dialogue among those who watch them,” said Patwardhan.

More than 50 films were screened under the category of short fiction, campus films, long documentary and short documentary. In the ‘Master Class’ session on ‘Editing Documentary Films’ organised at the Hotel Horizon, renowned documentary editor and director Sameera Jain opined documentaries are still not adequately funded and are given no pedagogical concern. She shared her experiences and techniques employed in documentary editing.

Young filmmakers such as Rahul Jain, Shilpa Gulati and Koel Sen opined good films can be made from small capital, and it is only natural these films incorporate the politics prevailing in the society.
