VIJAYAWADA: The Hyderabad High Court on Friday pulled up the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for the delay in the re-investigation into the brutal rape and murder of B Pharmacy student Ayesha Meera and directed them to complete the investigation in two months.

SIT in-charge Ch Srikanth (DIG - Visakhapatnam range) and DSP Himavathi appeared before the court and submitted their second report on re-investigation in a sealed cover.

After going through the report, the High Court found fault with the SIT and expressed the view that the pace of re-investigation was rather slow.

Replying to the judge, the SIT officials reportedly cited the local court’s denial of permission for narcoanalysis test on the suspects as the reason for the slow investigation and sought extension of deadline by a few more months. Sources said the judge expressed anger over SIT officials’ failure in filing a review petition on narcoanalysis test while submitting the second report on Friday.
