A 26-year-old man and his 20-year-old girlfriend committed suicide by hanging themselves from a tree, in the outskirts of Anasagaram village in Nandigama mandal in Krishna district.

Though the tragic incident reportedly took place on Thursday evening, it came to light on Friday afternoon after the villagers found the two bodies hanging from a neem tree in the outskirts of the village.

According to the Nandigama sub-inspector Suresh, the deceased Karla Ravindra of Chandarlapadu manual and Uppuluri Priyanka of Peddavaram village in Nandigama mandal, were distant relatives and had decided to get married. When the family members of the duo recently came to know about their affair and objected to their marriage, the depressed lovers committed suicide by hanging themselves from a tree using a single rope. “Both of them were allegedly having an affair for the past three years. Their family members came to know about it recently and scolded them.

“Unable to bear the idea of separation, they committed suicide,” Suresh said. He said that the villagers spotted the bodies in the afternoon of Friday and informed the police.The bodies were later sent to the Nandigama government hospital for autopsy. Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and investigation into the matter is on.
