VIJAYAWADA: Krishna district collector A Md Imtiaz held a review meeting on viral fevers with the district health officials on Friday. During the meeting, he directed the officials to take action against the private hospitals and laboratories that were diagnosing dengue without sending the samples for Elisa test.

“All the hospitals and labs need to send the samples of suspected dengue cases for the confirmation test to the city Government General Hospital (GGH). The hospitals should not declare any viral fever as dengue until proven by the Elisa test. We have received complaints against some hospitals and laboratories doing the same. Strict action will be taken against them,” the collector stated.

He further instructed the officials to conduct door-to-door health campaigns and tests in areas where the viral fever cases have been registered. He also highlighted the need to increase the sanitation programmes in both rural and urban areas to make sure that there was no stagnation of rainwater.
