Abhishek Humbad, a final year PG student of business management at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B),  didn't sit for summer placements this year. Reason, he has his own business! The whizkid juggles his time between studies and his start-up without compromising on either.

Abhishek is the co-founder and CEO of NextGen PMS, an energy consultancy firm. It works in two areas — emission management and energy waste. The nearly three-year-old company has a formidable client list, starting from IT majors like Intel India and Infosys to banks like Yes Bank and ICICI. Last year it bagged a contract for helping Karnataka's corridor of power, Vidhan Soudha, to go green.

“We face stiff competition from biggies like Ernst and Young, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, but we have been able to hold our own,” says Abhishek. “Our USP is low costs. Some of our team members work from Rajasthan and Delhi. We have established our credentials after bagging a contract from the Union Ministry of New and Renewable energy,” adds the 23-year-old.

Abhishek's day begins before 8 am and comes to an end past midnight. His classes at IIM is followed by his company's work, which is again followed by classes the next morning. He also receives call from his clients in

Europe and South Asia. He transfers them to his partners and assistants who are based in other cities and Bangalore.
