Chief Minister N Rangasamy heading the AINRC in the Union Territory and his party candidates were leading in at least seven Assembly constituencies as votes polled in the April 9 elections were being counted.
According to the Election Commission, Rangasamy, who is contesting from two constituencies in the UT, was ahead in Thattanchavady by a margin of 3,591 votes.
AINRC candidates R Ravikumar, Vaiyapuri Manikandan, C Aiyappan, E Mohandoss, P Rajavelu, and P R N Thirumurugan were ahead in Villianur, Muthialpet, Ariankuppam, Enbalam, Nettapakkam, and Karaikal North, Election Commission data revealed.
BJP candidates A Namassivayam and T K SM Meenatchisundaram were ahead in Mannadipet and Neravy T R Pattinam constituencies.
Preliminary trends in the Union Territory of Puducherry indicate an advantage for the NDA alliance led by AINRC in the counting of postal ballots on Monday.
As per the counting in the initial rounds, the AINRC is leading in ten constituencies while the Congress is ahead in five, in a close contest in the UT.
Exit polls give an advantage to the NDA, though a tight contest is expected. Axis My India predicted 16-20 seats for the NDA and 6-8 for the DMK-Congress. It said the TVK is likely to get 2-4 seats in the assembly. While Kamakhya Analytics predicted 17-24 seats for the AINRC plus (NDA), 4-7 for the Congress plus and 1-2 for teh TVK, Peoples Pulse predicted 16-19 seats for the AINRC plus and 10-12 for the Congress plus. Praja Poll forecast 19-25 for the AINRC and 6-10 for the Congress plus. There are 30 elected seats in Puducherry.
