Sanghavi, the actress

Just like I fight with my mother and brother, I fight with god. After few days I reconcile with him and becomes his pet.

CHENNAI: Actress Sanghavi treats Him as a member of her family and even scolds Him at times.

What’s your understanding of God?

I go to the temple, the church and also tie a sacred thread given at Dargah. I believe God is the one who leads you. Sometimes, what we pray for may not happen but it doesn’t mean that God is not listening to your prayers.

Maybe he has some other choice for you and the choice always leads you to happiness. I do fight with God and don’t perform puja for days. But He is like a part of my family.

Just like I fight with my mother and brother, I fight with Him. After a few days I reconcile with Him and becomes His pet. I do puja for hours together. I speak to him and if I’m not in good mood I cry sitting at the puja room.

My spiritual beliefs

I believe there’s someone superior to you. Believing God depends upon the person. If a friend is an atheist, I won’t try to push my beliefs on her and ask her to follow God blindly. Believing God is something that should come from within. God always sends someone to help you in times of need.

Do you visit any pilgrimage centres?

I used to go to Mantralaya. But I hardly go these days. I visit Velankanni Church, Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry and Shirdi. God is the only person I can share anything with. One has to put in efforts to make things happen. Without working hard you can’t blame God for having not considered your prayers.
