He has just returned from a rejuvenating trip to Geneva and Paris. Actor Sivakarthikeyan is excited about his next project Varuthapadaatha Vaalibar Sangam (VVS), after his recent hit Ethirneechal.

The film is produced by Escape Artists and directed by Ponram, who is Rajesh’s former assistant.

What’s more, Rajesh has written the dialogues of the film, promising a hilarious ride for audiences.

Speaking to CE, Sivakarthikeyan says, “The hero and his friends form this Sangham in their village so that people notice them and respect them. They do everything for others. What happens when twists occur in the tale is what the film is about.” Actors Soori and Sridivya are part of the cast, while Bindu Madhavi has made a guest appearance.

One thing that has Sivakarthikeyan excited is that he is sharing screen space with actor Sathyaraj in the film. “Shahrukh and I have something in common. We both share the same screen father-in-law,” he says, referring to Sathyaraj playing Deepika Padukone’s father in the Shahrukh Khan-starrer, Chennai Express (Hindi).

Making good use of the time spent with Sathyaraj, Sivakarthikeyan admits he learnt a lot of things. “I would observe his voice modulation, body language and subtle changes in expressions.  He is a  storehouse of knowledge and a veteran actor and I’m lucky to have got this opportunity.”

Sathyaraj himself had praised Sivakarthikeyan’s knowledge of Tamil cinema. Quiz him about it and the young hero says, “Well, that’s because I watch a lot of movies. In college too, I was part of the cinema quiz team in the culturals. We were addicted to cinema. I used to  watch around 200 movies a year in several languages! Even now, I make it a point to watch movies every week with my friends. We have a rich cinematic heritage and it’s important to keep in touch with both the past and the present of cinema.”

After VVS, Sivakarthikeyan will be heading to the shoot of AR Murugadoss’ untitled production, directed by newbie Thirukumaran. Hansika plays his heroine.

With a spate of successful films and big banners in his kitty, it looks like Sivakarthikeyan is slowly but steadily stepping  into the big league.
