Guess who joined model and actor Milind Soman, an intrepid marathoner, on his 570 km run from Ahmedabad to Mumbai? His 76-year-old mother, Usha.

As we speak, Soman, once the superstar of the ramp in India, is running the Great India Run, which was scheduled to end later today. And matching strides with him is his mother, a retired biochemist and teacher, sari-clad and barefoot. She joined in the marathon yesterday and was determined to make it right into the portals of Maximum City.

It wasn't the son who lured the mum into becoming a famed fitness freak, it was the other way round. In a recent interview, the actor credited his mother for inspiring him to take sports seriously.

A video of the mother and son  duo burning up the highway to Mumbai has been posted on the Facebook page of the organisers of The Great India Run. It has clocked up nearly 4,00,000 views and over 5,000 shares so far.

And mind, this is not the first time that Usha Soman has taken up long-distance locomotion. A few years ago, she walked 100 km in the Mumbai Oxfam Trailwalker. She did it in  than 48 hours.
