WASHINGTON: Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Detective Pikachu’, the first-ever live-action Pokemon film, officially has a release date.

The flick is slated for release on May 10, 2019, Universal announced, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Reynolds will play the titular Detective Pikachu.

Besides the ‘Deadpool’ star, the film will star Justice Smith (‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’) and Kathryn Netwon (‘Big Little Liars’). 

‘Goosebumps’ director Rob Letterman will helm the project, which starts shooting mid-January in London.
